  • Overview

    The Commercial Loan Documentation Specialist I documents and processes all types of commercial loans, back up documents for letters of credit, participation agreements and lease transactions. Ensures loans are documented accurately, efficiently, timely and in accordance with Bank and regulatory requirements.


    • Utilize LaserPro loan documentation software to prepare documents for all types of commercial loans, including new loans, modifications and renewals, backup documents for new and renewal letters of credit ensure compliance with loan policy, terms of the written loan approval and all applicable regulatory requirements.
    • Utilize current scanning and core loan servicing to verify prior loan and collateral documentation, before preparing renewals and modifications; ensure any existing errors or deficiencies are corrected.
    • Collaborate with Lenders, Assistants and the Credit Underwriting team to understand loan structure; obtain supporting documentation and additional information needed to accurately prepare loan documents and perfect the Bank’s security interest.
    • Obtain and review all supporting documentation and third-party reports, including but not limited to:
    • Credit approval and subsequent material changes/immaterial changes/change memos to ensure that the document request is properly approved according to loan policy
    • Financial reporting requirements and covenants to ensure compliance with loan approval
    • All applicable organizational documents such as Trust Agreements, Articles of Incorporation or Organization, Operating Agreement, By-Laws, IRS Tax Verifications, and Certificates of Beneficial Ownership.
    • Lien searches, title reports, title work to ensure the Bank’s collateral position.
    • Flood determinations and applicable flood insurance to ensure compliance with bank policy and applicable regulations.
    • All types of applicable insurance (hazard, general liability, builder’s risk, property insurance) to ensure the Bank’s collateral is protected and bank is listed as Lenders Loss Payee, Mortgagee or Additional Insure, as appropriate.
    • Appraisal and appraisal reviews to confirm the accurate description of our collateral and to ensure policy requirements are met.
    • Order UCC searches through CSC application; review and upload to nCino to ensure the Bank’s lien position.
    • Good Standing confirmations for all borrowers and/or guarantors.
    • Paid real estate taxes receipts.
    • Compile and review HMDA (Home Mortgage Disclosure Act) packets for HMDA reporting.
    • Work with the loan documentation reviewer to ensure the accuracy, consistency, uniformity, neatness of all loan documents prior to distribution.
    • Process withdrawn and denied loan applications and prepare adverse actions as necessary.
    • Document collateral exceptions, as well as incomplete and trailing documents to track on tickler system. 
    • Effectively manage open loan workflow pipeline for loan document requests to ensure all requests are processed according to service level agreements.
    • Perform post-closing document review, facilitate loan funding to ensure funds are disbursed in accordance with the loan approval and all fees are paid as required, perfect loan collateral and prepare files for booking as needed.
    • React to change in a productive manner and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
    • Interact with internal and external clients while providing extraordinary service.
    • Develop and maintain trusted, positive relationships with other employees, clients and vendors. 
    • Represent the Bank and Loan Services team in a highly professional manner.
    • Complete job assignments in a professional, timely and efficient manner; organize and prioritize work.
    • Maintain confidentiality; adhere to CrossFirst Bank policies and procedures; comply with laws, regulations and industry best practices.
    • Reliable and predictable attendance.


    • Substantial knowledge of commercial loan processing, procedures and regulations, including experience in loan documentation.
    • Proven performer documenting complex loans in a commercial banking environment using LaserPro or similar software.
    • Strong knowledge and understanding of bank products, services and operations.
    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work flow and projects as well as function well in a team based environment.
    • Demonstrated success in a multi-task environment with attention to detail and follow through.
    • Demonstrated knowledge with MS Office and office automation equipment.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with office automation equipment, including phones, computers, scanners and related loan processing/banking software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. 
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
